Your Vehicle Was Impounded. Here's Your Next Step.

Reclaiming Your Vehicle

At Ghost Towing and Recovery, we understand how stressful it can be to have your vehicle towed. We’ve made the retrieval process as simple and straightforward as possible so you can get back on the road quickly.

Hours & Availability

Vehicles impounded at our facility are available for release 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. After-hours releases are available by appointment and may be subject to an after-hours gate fee.

What to Bring

When you arrive to claim your vehicle, please have the following ready:

  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Proof of vehicle ownership (title, registration, or equivalent legal documentation)
  • Valid form of payment for the total balance due at time of release

Payment Information

We accept cash and major credit/debit cards. Please note that if paying by cash, we ask that you bring the exact amount — our staff is unable to make change. Credit and debit card transactions may be subject to a small convenience fee.

Who Can Pick Up a Vehicle

Florida law requires that a vehicle stored in our impound lot be released only to the legal and/or registered owner of that vehicle. However, exceptions may be made in the following circumstances:

The registered owner is unable to appear in person due to:

  • Hospitalization due to illness or injury
  • Location in another city, state, or country at considerable distance from our facility
  • Incarceration in a local, state, or federal detention facility

In any of the above situations, a Vehicle Release Form — completed and notarized by a licensed Florida Notary Public — must be presented in person at the time of pickup. You may download this form directly from our website.

Special Circumstances

If the registered owner has been deemed mentally incompetent: A certified copy of the applicable court order, along with a valid Power of Attorney document, will be required at the time of vehicle release.

If the registered owner is deceased: A valid death certificate must be presented, along with legal documentation establishing that the person claiming the vehicle is the executor of the estate or holds another legally binding right to take possession of the vehicle.

Rental & Leased Vehicles

Vehicles registered to a rental or leasing company (such as Enterprise, Hertz, Alamo, Budget, U-Haul, Ryder, or similar) will only be released to an authorized company representative. That representative must present a Hold Harmless letter on official company letterhead at the time of payment and release.

Please note: this requirement also applies to the retrieval of any personal belongings left inside a rental or leased vehicle.

Commercial & Fleet Vehicles

To release a vehicle registered to a business or corporation, one of the following must be presented at the time of pickup:

  • Articles of Incorporation identifying the officer retrieving the vehicle, or
  • A notarized letter of authorization on company letterhead, signed by a company officer, authorizing a designated agent to retrieve the vehicle on the company’s behalf
